Transportation and Infrastructure Committee debated the Safe and
Efficient Transportation Act, which would allow states to grant
interstate access to six-axle trucks weighing up to 97,000 pounds.

act is supported by the Coalition for Transportation Productivity, a
group of 200 large shippers, but others – like the Oklahoma Department
of Transportation – have urged caution in raising truck weight limits,
mainly due to the additional stress on bridges.
