Did you know … that Mother’s Day here in the United
States was started by a woman named Anna Jarvis? In 1907, she started
working to have a day set aside for all Americans to celebrate their
moms. She spread the word through church meetings and letter-writing to
government representatives and businessmen. By 1910, she had nearly all
46 states observing Mother’s Day. In 1914, Mother’s Day became a
national holiday.
