State officials announced that work on the final stretch of Interstate 49N is expected to begin this fall. The Louisiana Department of Construction said yesterday that the job had been divided into two phases for Segment K – a one mile tract from I-220 to Martin Luther King Boulevard in Caddo Parish.
The first part of the project began in May, and the Louisiana DOT anticipates that the work will be done by 2016 or 2017.

Starting August 1st, weekend motorists on Route 1 in Delaware will be paying more money at the toll booth. Although the current charges for motorists vary depending on class and size, all tolls will increase by $1.
State officials decided to increase toll costs in an effort to help fund road projects after Gov. Jack Markell’s proposal of a 10-cent gasoline tax was rejected. The money coming from toll increases will be supplemented with a $20 million loan for transportation projects.

On Friday, after reviewing engineering and traffic safety reports, the Idaho Transportation Board approved a plan to increase speed limits on selected rural sections of interstates in southern and eastern Idaho in early August.
Speed limits won’t increase until the proper signs are in place, but once the signs are up, limits will increase to 80 mph on interstates 15, 84 and 86. The max speed for trucks will go up to 70 mph.
