Across the nation, accidents and fatalities on the road have been drastically reduced since increased seatbelt use and a reduction in impaired driving. But authorities in Louisiana say that little progress has been made in reducing speeding, which is a factor in almost one-third of all highway fatalities.

Lt. Col. John LeBlanc, executive director of the Louisiana Safety Commission, says that “aggressive driving” (a category that speeding falls under) is a factor in more than half of all crashes that ended in death in Louisiana.
