Starting August 1st, weekend motorists on Route 1 in Delaware will be paying more money at the toll booth. Although the current charges for motorists vary depending on class and size, all tolls will increase by $1.
State officials decided to increase toll costs in an effort to help fund road projects after Gov. Jack Markell’s proposal of a 10-cent gasoline tax was rejected. The money coming from toll increases will be supplemented with a $20 million loan for transportation projects.
